Kirk Franklin Songs, Ministering with Songs Of Praise For Our Young Generation
The wonderful sounds of Kirk Franklin Songs were being presented to the world by this Musical Mystro at an early age. This young man's start in life was not the best one in the world but by the grace of God, he was raised by his aunt, Gertrude Franklin, after being abandoned by his parents.
Later in life, after this young boy grew into manhood, he was the dynamic leader of the DFW Mass Choir at the 1990 Gospel Music Workshop of America Convention. Kirk was also the team leader and organizer of "The Family", a seventeen-voice choir, a vocal ensemble of neighborhood friends and associates in 1992, this in itself helped to strenghthen his faith in singing his songs, Kirk Franklin Songs. Known as the carasmatic leader of contemporary gospel choirs such as Kirk Franklin's Nu Nation, God's Property and Kirk Franklin Presents 1NC, he signed with GospoCentric in 1993, releasing a song of praise which was aptly named- "Kirk Franklin & The Family".
The lyrical stylings of the Kirk Franklin Songs spent almost 2 years on the gospel charts, also charted on the R&B charts (very rare for a Gospel artist) and then went platinum. His super hits had a stunning run and stayed at #1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart for 42 weeks in 1995.
This young minister was a memeber of the Mt. Rose Baptist Church, which is were he got his start in performing Kirk Franklin Songs. Franklin was a typical teen with a mission from God, he just did not realize it yet.
In 2005 he released yet another chart-topping album called Hero, and in 2006 he release the album, Songs for the Storm, Vol. 1. Over the course of time he has managed to gain three Grammys, 20 number one hits and more than 10 million records sold. He is truly a phonomenal powerhouse singer of songs of praise for the Lord. Reality hit home when Kirk began rebelling in his teen years and getting into trouble until one of his friends was accidentally shot and killed at age 15. The hard facts of life helped Kirk realize that he was on a very destructive road and so he quickly returned to church before letting the streets carry him away.
